Waste management plan
A Waste management and minimisation plan is required for trading, events and filming in council-controlled public places. This plan is designed to help event organisers identify their expected waste streams and how to reduce them.
Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw 2019, Part 2, section 15
A person who must obtain an approval under any other bylaw that applies to Auckland to undertake any trading, event or filming activity in a council-controlled public place must
- obtain an approval for a waste management and minimisation plan in accordance with subpart 2 of Part 3 prior to undertaking that activity;
- ensure compliance with the approved plan; and
- ensure compliance with any conditions of the approval.
The form takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It is important that you include a site plan with your waste management plan. The site plan should indicate where you will be placing your waste stations and how many bins you will be using in each waste station. If you have any questions on how to reduce your event waste or to fill out the form, we have advisors available to help you, free of charge. More information on our advisors can be found here, or you can contact our Auckland Council Events WMMP Advisor at eventswmmp@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz.
